Since I won't be getting my paycheck while I'm on maternity leave, what will happen with my health insurance? My employer pays most of it, but they still take about 0 a week out of my check for what I have to pay. If I'm not getting a paycheck while I'm on leave, how will my insurance be paid? I have short term disability that I pay into voluntarily every week, so that's what I'll be living off of while I'm out, which isn't really much. How will the insurance get paid?

The only reason I ask is because I am looking for insurance we are going to have the optional maternity coverage added. With my daughter I was 2 months pregnant when I got hired at the company that covered my maternity for her. Why did I not have to wait then, but now I have to?
Is it even worth getting the maternity option?

My company does not offer any sort of paid maternity leave, so I was planning on buying short term disability insurance to cover part of my 12 week maternity leave. Are there short term disability plans that will cover my salary 100%. Does anyone have one they have used and that they can recommend? Thanks!

Just found out we were expecting... I am using Aetna health insurance, Do I need to add maternity insurance? Does it make a difference?

I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my first and am very confused about what I'm able to receive as far as pay during maternity leave. I'm employee through a temp agency and am not using their insurance, I'm using my husbands, do I still get disability leave? Also, how does the 6 weeks bonding law work? We don't have any health insurance however sense we are about to start a family we want full coverage for maternity. She is planning on becoming pregnant in mid February to mid March. Also we want a policy that she can choose a really good doctor and hospital. Also we are curious to know what the monthly payments should be and if we would have any outside expenses beyond these payments. Can anyone help us with these decisions.

My friend and her husband have private insurance (he is self-employed) and they did not select the "maternity" option because they were done having children. Unfortunately they took a risk and now she's pregnant. They are actually not thrilled by the pregnancy and are pretty devastated in general, emotionally and financially. Her insurance won't cover anything and they are looking at ,000 out of pocket for the whole pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

Are there any creative ways that she can get her policy to cover it? Or where could she work part-time to get coverage? Or are there any organizations she could join to get a new policy (Major organizations that would have an insurance buy-in option?)?

I feel lucky to be covered under my husband's job! What a terrible position to be in.
