Can I receive maternity pay from my employers and still do some self employed work?

I'm currently employed full time and do a very small amount of self employed work also. I'm due to go on Maternity Leave in April and would like to know if I can have my full maternity pay and still do some self employed work?

  • Onestep downfrom God says:

That depends upon the terms of your employment.
There is nothing in UK/Tax law to stop you.

hmmm i would call the department of labor in your state. main thing to consider is you do not want to get fired from your job if they can do so. you definitely do not want to lose your medical coverage at this point. follow this link
http://www.osha.gov/dcsp/osp/oshspa/2002_report/state_plan_directory.html and hopefully the labor department can help you.

if you are already pregnant now and will be going on leave in 6-7 months, that means you be 8-9 months pregnant then. you will not feel like doing any work and once the baby comes, you won;t have any time
