You should have your doctor’s office write the letter stating the length of your recommended maternity leave and the general reasons why, ie patient requires total bed rest, patient requires monitoring, patient needs inhome treatment, etc

An HR department can not do anything if a doctor has signed off on the request. If you make the request yourself without a doctor’s note, then they can set what their policy is on maternity leave.

    Good luck

that is awful. Get a doctor’s note.

Under the family leave act, they have NO choice…what gives????

Why don’t you have your doctor write a medically necessary letter and give that to your employer? I don’t believe they can legally reject that. They need to have some plan, by law, for maternity leave if requested by your doctor.

Go to your doctor and tell them you need maternity leave excuse. If it’s from a doctor, it would be more believable.
