How long are teachers on maternity leave?

This one teacher was due in the middle of July, and is effective until the middle of November. Isn't that a long time to be on maternity leave?

No that’s about 3 months so sounds right to me, maybe they are going from the day school starts and not actually July.

not really, 4 months is not long at all. Most women take 6 months to a year.

Through FMLA, a new mother can take up to 12 weeks maternity leave unpaid. But as far as I know, most state/government workers (teachers, policewomen, etc.) get close to 6 weeks paid maternity leave. If a teacher decides to take off 5 months (1 month more than FMLA) then the school does not have to hire the teacher back. You may have your months wrong or I may. But even with that, a teacher is still responsible for lesson plans and other necessary school dutiesfor the time she will be out.
